Welcome to The Painted Nose Tribe Sanctuary

At The Painted Nose Tribe Sanctuary, our mission is to provide immediate sanctuary for any small animals, especially community/feral cats. We provide appropriate care either to a veterinary facility, registered rehab, at another facility, or at our sanctuary, possibly with one of our foster families. Medical screening and treatment comes above all else. We have a team of dedicated volunteers who are able to provide respite care, socialization both with humans and other animals. By doing these things we feel that we give "our" animals the best chance for an adoptable future.

***Two Important Notices*** At this time we are unable to take large animals and dogs (my allergies) though we can keep them until an appropriate facility or foster is found. All wild animals will be worked with and returned to the wild or to, again, a registered rehab facility. We do not keep wild animals as any kind of "pet". This is actually a third notice... we are brand new to the incorporated part of being a sanctuary and are a work in progress... we have way bigger hearts than brains or resources at the moment.

Services

Rescue Services

To rescue, rehab, TVNR, adopt out or give sanctuary to every animal that comes to our facility.

Beyond that to educate the public through educational programs, public service bulletins, my big mouth, visitation with the animals which may include arts and crafts, and to do so with giving as much insight into our Indigenous background as possible.

Rehabilitation Programs

Our team, both staff and volunteers, evaluates each animal and once medically and mentally stabilized, we work out a rehabilitation plan with the goal of either adoption or returning them to their home in the wild.

Sanctuary Retreats

Offer permanent sanctuary for animals in need of a forever home. This is as straightforward as it gets. Community cats are used to their home... which happens to be here. They remain with their family for their lifetime unless something changes the circumstances. Any animal needing a furever home and remains unadoptable will find sanctuary here.

As far as the retreat part, anyone is welcome to come to our sanctuary and "retreat and rewind" for as long as they need but you probably will be put to work.

Frequently Asked Questions

What animals do you rescue?

Keeping in mind that we are totally under construction and our largest safe enclosure is our actual home, we will find a place for whoever needs it until we can find a more suitable situation if we aren't it. Besides community cats we have rehabed squirrels, turtles, lizards, dogs (though I sneeze massively), more turtles, you name it... if it needs help we will find it help.

How can I support your sanctuary?

You can support us by donating, sponsoring an animal, or volunteering your time at our facility. Again... I have much better details and will be fixing this soon. Contact me @ dawnandrea1963@gmail.com or 843-373-5462

Can I volunteer at your facility?

Absolutely... please contact me @ dawnandrea1963@gmail.com, 843-373-5462, or Friend Request me at Sarah Ruth on Facebook. I will welcome the interest.

What is TVNR?

Actually, TVNR is the major focus here! Trap-Vaccinate-Neuter (Spay) and Return is the official humane way to deal correctly with Community Cats. They are safely trapped, taken to a vet who deals with Feral/Community Cats and they evaluate, vaccinate, and sterilize the cat, let them recouperate and then they are safely returned to the wild. This closes the colony to outside cats, once all the cats have been sterilized and eventually will lead to a lowering of the feral cat population which is, at the moment, out of control.

What is the purpose of all this?

Please check out No Kill South Carolina... we are working hand in hand to keep as close to a 90% plus survival rate at state shelters and rescues.

“The Painted Nose Tribe Sanctuary truly goes above and beyond to care for every animal that comes through their doors. Their dedication and compassion are unmatched.”
